Detroit Electropolishing & Passivation – Shipping & Delivery
Detroit is the transportation hub for a large portion of the western United States; consumer and industrial goods are transported by air, rail, and truck through Detroit to more than 30 million people a year.
Many of the manufacturers and industries in the Detroit area, like aerospace, occasionally need electropolishing for passivating stainless steel parts, tanks and surfaces. Many companies don’t even know what electropolishing is or how it can benefit them.
We also support mobile electropolishing in Boulder and the rest of Michigan.
Note: Our passivation and electropolishing facility is centrally located in Kansas due to the ease of delivering and receiving pieces and parts from all over the country. Most companies mail or deliver by semi… parts, pieces and/or tanks to us for electropolishing and passivation. We also have a mobile passivation that drives to your location which covers a service area from coast to coast. Get a quote from us before going local just because they are closer.
Electropolishing is a process which electro-chemically strips off a thin layer of the base material, removing oxides, impurities and is an effective deburring process that removes any flecks of metal or contaminants that may be present from machining.

The process tends to focus on stainless steels, it removes iron or iron oxide which can exist on the surface of stainless steel as contamination a machining process, grinding or fabrication.
After electropolishing, the metal is usually passivated in a solution of nitric acid which expels any remaining free iron without removing the chromium oxide or base metal. Areas such as cracks, holes or crevices that might not have been exposed to the electropolishing process become passivated.
